Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best way to get to Orlando?

.

There are two airports in Orlando. Orlando International (MCO) and Orlando Sanford International (SFB). Both are around 25 min. and approximately 15 miles from the University of Central Florida where the workshop will be held. Both are major airports, but it should be mentioned that SFB is the central hub for Allegiant Air which often has extremely affordable rates from numerous cities across the US. We highly recommend checking to see if they fly from a city near you. www.allegiantair.com

Likewise, MCO is a Southwest favorite destination. Check out www.southwest.com for great deals with free checked bags.

Where's the best place to stay?

The Hilton Garden Inn Orlando East- UCF Area is just a few short miles from the Theatre Building on campus where the workshop will be held. They have graciously agreed to honor a block rate for those attending the Tourist Trap workshop. Those who wish to book rooms at the hotel will pay only $113 a night which includes access to the entire onsite breakfast bar each day as long as you book by Jan 22nd. Rooms with double beds that sleep up to 4 are available at this rate. Simply mention that you are attending the Tourist Trap Stage Combat Workshop at the time of your reservation. Reserve by calling 866-311-6110.

What sort of classes will be offered?

The staff at the Tourist Trap wants to ensure that you have the greatest opportunity to learn about the arts of Stage Combat & Stunts in the short time you're here. We are therefore happy to be offering classes in all eight weapons offered by the Society of American Fight Directors in addition to a host of specialty stunt and motion capture performance classes taught by our incredible instructors. Please stay tuned for a list of classes and their descriptions to appear on the schedule page!

Can I get certified?

Unfortunately, due to the two day length of the workshop, we are unable to offer any Skills Proficiency Test classes. However, for those of you who wish to renew any previous weapons recognition, we will offer renewals in each of the eight SAFD weapons. *Renewal fees will be paid separately and are not included in tuition for the workshop.
